What to visit in the department of Aube?

The department of Aube has some very beautiful lakes that are ideal for walks and hikes: the great lakes of the Forêt d'Orient. These large lakes extend over 5000 hectares in the heart of the regional park that goes by the same name.
The city of Troyes is the capital of Aube, and is filled with rich history and heritage. Troyes is known as the city of 10 churches. The churches of Saint Nicolas, the Basilica of Saint Urbain or the elegant cathedral of Saint Pierre and Saint Paul with 1500 square metres of stained glass windows are worth a visit. Troyes also has several museums such as the Museum of Modern Arts or the Museum of Apothecaries.
Several castles punctuate the Aube department, such as Chacenay castle or Mote Tilly castle (18th century). The church of Bailly le Franc is a church to visit, original because it is all made of wood. The Abbey of Clairvaux is also a point of interest for the department, particularly with its monks' washhouse and its chapel in the children's prison.
Finally, the royal crystal factory of Champagne, which tells us the history of crystal, the Nigoland park - its shows and its 37 attractions - or the botanical garden of Marnay-sur-Seine also attract many visitors!
